Everyday should be Earth Day

"Working together to keep people

AND our planet beautiful."

Studio7 does what we can to play our own part in keeping the planet green. One of the major ways we do that is by working with a company called Green Circle Salons. By being a certified Green Circle Salon, this means that Studio7 is properly recycling all of our salon waste. This is extremely important, as some 421,000 POUNDS of salon waste get thrown away DAILY in our country! That is a lot of unnecessary waste going into our environment that we as individuals can each prevent.

What is Green Circle Salons?

A recycling, re-purposing program that ensures our hair clippings, foils, color tubes, plastics, batteries, light bulbs, and chemicals get diverted out of our landfills and water streams! That totals 85-95% of salon waste, benefiting our community, country, and planet. These items are all turned into around 96% water that goes back, clean, into our water system. This is important because typically 42,000 pounds of these products are rinsed down the drain every single day.

So what does the Green Circle company do with all this waste they collect from salons? In an article from Salon Today the founder of Green Circle Salons talks all about how much the company has impacted the beauty industry.

For example, to recycle hair, they work with Alouette Correctional Centre for Women in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. “We pay a wage to the women in the penitentiary, and they make boons to absorb oil,” he says. “They get stored in our warehouse and we send them out for oil spill purposes when needed. There are lots of prisons around the world, so our intention is to roll this program out.” Another cool re-purpose effort: Green Circle boils unused hair and put them inside pillows for Haitian refugees!

"We are committed to giving back 5% of our pre-tax profits to work with local and international organizations to support programs that create positive social and environmental change." -Green Circle Salons

It is important to the Studio7 team to educate and raise awareness about recycling in this industry and leaving the planet a better place than when we started. Even the brands we use are conscious of the environment, for example Kevin Murphy is partnered with Green Circle as shown in the video below. One small element is the color tubes used in the Color.Me line we have at Studio7 are 100% recyclable!

Reduce. Reuse. Re-purpose. Recycle.

Become part of the change TODAY!

For the month of April, Studio7 is offering 10% off any retail purchase if you bring in your empty aerosol cans for us to recycle properly.
